Roots of Taste and Lineage

On August 15, 2025, Chanthaburi Province organized a significant activity under the project “Roots of Taste and Lineage to the World’s Creative Kitchen”, which is an important step in driving Chanthaburi to be part of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network. Food and culture experts from several provinces joined to exchange knowledge to elevate Chanthaburi Gastronomy to be globally recognized.

Visiting the Gastronomy Foundation: From Fresh Markets to the Riverside Community Roots of Taste and Lineage

Executives and consultant experts from the Creative Cities Network from Phuket, Phetchaburi, and Chiang Rai provinces traveled to participate in this activity. They began by visiting Suan Ma Muang Market, a hub for excellent quality ingredients and local food of Chanthaburi people. This knowledge exchange opened new perspectives for both sides, showing the potential of local ingredients that can be further developed.

The group then traveled to the Chanthabun Riverside Community, a historical area that truly reflects the traditional way of life of the Chanthaburi people. They visited 3 important places:

  • Wat Khet Na Bunyaram: To pay respects and listen to the history of the ancient star worship ceremony.
  • Chanthabun Riverside Community Learning Center, House No. 69: To study the history and roots of the community.
  • Immaculate Conception Cathedral: To admire the beauty of the outstanding architecture and receive a welcome from community members in Ao Dai (Vietnamese national dress), which reflects the cultural diversity.
